The EasyTag GPS module records all movement and can directly geotag photos when connected to compatible Nikon DSLRs.
It is compatible with Nikon’s new D3100, D5100 and D7000.
It is equipped with its own internal battery, capable of 8-10 hours of continuous logging. It charges in approximately 4 hours using the bundled USB cable. When the EasyTagger’s battery runs low, if connected to a compatible Nikon DSLR, it will switch to the camera’s battery to allow for uninterrupted operation (except for the D7000 which cannot power the EasyTag).
NOTE: The EasyTagger draws a small current and should be disconnected from the Nikon DSLR if not in use for extended periods of time so as to not drain the DSLR’s battery.
NOTE: The D7000 does NOT power the EasyTag, unlike other Nikon DSLRs such as the D2/D3/D200/D300/D700/D3100/D5000/D5100/D7000/D90/etc. For use with the D7000, the EasyTag MUST be charged and will run off its own internal battery. Our engineers are trying to determine if Nikon changed something on the D7000.
The EasyTag can also be used with any other camera through the use of free 3rd-party software to geotag files based upon the recorded GPS tracks.
Its direct data cable connection is compatible with the Nikon D2/x/Hs/xs, D3/s/x, D90, D200 (no compass heading), D300/s, D700, D3100, D5000, D5100, D7000 and Fuji S5 Pro.
The 10-pin data cable is required for the D2-, D3-, D200, D300-, and D700.
The 8-pin cable is required for the D90, D3100, D5000, D5100 and D7000.
It has a 2.5mm remote pass-through allowing remote shutter releases to be used simultaneously while the EasyTag is connected to compatible Nikon cameras so that no existing functionality is lost. The remote trigger works whether the EasyTag is on or off.
